Rainy Lazy Sunday

The husband got back from his week-long work adventures around our great state (Green Bay & Madison) last night and unfortunately the weather today has been cold and rainy (though we need the rain.) It's making for a very "indoors" Sunday though so I don't think we will get our nature walk in. Just thinking of all the fun things I want to try to do once the weather gets nicer. Here is a list of things I want to try to do this spring/summer...

- Go pick fresh berries
- Have a picnic
- Visit more than 1 state park camping
- Go for a Friday Fish Fry & a Flick on Lake Michigan
- Go fishing
- Try my hand at canning something
- Buy fresh flowers more often
- Go to the farmers market
- Make a small trough garden

I'm afraid to make my list any longer in fear that it will be too overwhelming and none of it will happen~ heres to hopin! For today I get to cozy up with my puppy on the couch, veg on the computer and make lists and notes for all of the creative ideas I have pent up in my head!

BrewsDay Review :: Supper Club Beer by Capitol Brewing

Funny little story... my husband during his first trip to Northern Wisconsin had posed the question to me "So do you need to be a member of that Supper Club to go in there??" This was with a strait face too, I just had to laugh but I guess from an outsider it is a real question! The answer is NO of coarse! I guess it's just a Wisconsin thing ;-)

Onto the beer, Supper Club by Capital Brewing in Middleton (Madison) Wisconsin is a very well balanced, smooth beer and is very drinkable. This has a bit more kick than what the average Miller Light/Bud Lighter would drink but a very nice touch of malt and a slightly hoppy characteristic. I could drink this one all summer long! Maybe the next time you are at a Supper Club you will trade in your Old Fashion for this one!

Midwest Vegitarian Egg-Rolls

Yum yum is all I have to say! This was something (minus the Boca Crumbles) my Mom used to make when we were kids. Back then we just called them egg-rolls but over time it's been a pain in the ass trying to describe these to people when they aren't truly Asian egg-rolls so I've started calling them Midwest Egg-Rolls.

Super easy to make, just 1 bag of Boca Crumbles, 1 bag of broccoli slaw, 1 can of veggie broth, some Soy/Worcestershire sauce to taste then spoon them into wanton shells and back in the oven until golden brown.... serve with ketchup!! SO good, especially since today got all cold on us, I am SOOO ready for Spring already!

BrewsDay Beer Review :: Shine On by Central Waters Brewing Amhert Wis.

Dont let the (sorry) rather poor package design fool you~ give me a shout people I am a graphic designer but wait, that might be a conflict of interest since I am a the in house designer for another brewery... but for real I could give you some pointers!! Ok, enough with the side track! This is a very well balanced and smooth beer that is light, malty with hint of a flower note. This is really a pleasant beer to enjoy!

Avacado, Mango & Black Bean Salad

A simply and yummy dinner that was fresh, easy and healthy! I made an Avacado, Mango and Black Bean salad (also with some cherry tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice, s&p and evoo.) I also made a whole grain cheese quesadilla with a fresh gin & tonic! This was the perfect way to end a great Sunday with my husband and puppy! Enjoy!

Spring Wreath Project

Easy and cheap wreath! I either already had or gotten the items at the dollar store, so this probably in honest only cost me $5 to make! I suppose you could have left the wreath the cream color but I wanted white (as my walls are a bit of a toffee color as it is and I wanted it to pop more.) Other than that all you need is a glue gun! Have fun~ enjoy!

Low Carb Veggie Dinner :: Cheesey Spaghetti Squash Bake with Adobo Cream

So, this is a variation of a recipe I saw online and it turned out really good and it was very simple! I cooked the squash in the microwave for about 12 minutes and during that time made the adobe cream with milk and an adobe chili on the stove top. After those two item were done I assembled them combining with some different shredded Mexican cheeses in then baked for 15 minutes. Simple and yummy!
